Online International Debate was organized on 12th of December 2023
On December 12th, in Youth Phoenix Project we organised „Online International Debate”, all designed to empower young people into conversations about active participation.
The morning began with participants immersing themselves in preparatory sessions. These sessions were a rich tapestry of diverse topics, all orbiting around the theme of active involvement. Each country had the morning to prepare in order to be ready for the afternoon debate.
As the day progressed, a thrilling transformation unfolded. The youthful ambassadors, brimming with insights gleaned from the earlier discussions, took center stage. Through dynamic presentations and interactive sessions, they showcased their perspectives, igniting a lively exchange of ideas. The climax of this segment was the voting process, where the young minds themselves determined the most adept country debate team.
The themes of debate were:
* By 2050 we will have 80% green energy
* Encouraging and supporting young people's active participation in civic activities is essential for a vibrant democracy.
* Mandatory voting ensures citizens' active involvement in democratic processes.
* Voluntary work should be compulsory in education systems in order to develop new social and professional skills before leaving school
* The legislation about fake news should be more strict
* Anxiety is a problem of our generation
* The immigration laws should be more relaxed, people should travel and work more easily in other countries.
The air buzzed with anticipation as the consortium and facilitators eagerly awaited this fusion of debate and competition. It promised not just robust discussions but also the empowerment of the next wave of leaders deeply engaged in civic matters.
